Barcelona center forward Luiz Suarez has told the club to start looking for a new striker as soon as possible given that his playing days are almost over.

According to the Uruguayan, the most important reason why Barcelona should act quickly is to allow him mentor the new striker before he hangs up his boots.

Barca have been on the trials of different strikers for much of the season in a bid to strengthen the attack of Ernesto Valverde’s men. Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez has been a major target and although getting him over the mid-season transfer window is next to impossible, a summer transfer looks likelier.

The current atmosphere surrounding Barcelona’s attack would have been a less moody if they succeeded in bringing Neymar back to the Camp Nou over the summer.

The Brazilian left the Catalan giants for PSG and was, according to reports, more than willing to come back but Barcelona’s officials handled the incident poorly leading to a sour state of affairs between the two clubs.

Failure to lure the former golden boy back to the club has left Valverde devoid of options and Suarez feels the coming summer shouldn’t have a repeat of such mistake.

Luiz Suarez has managed to net 6 times in 8 La Liga games he has managed to start and he feels having a competition will make him “better”.

Having been linked to an MLS once he decides his time in Spain is up, it seems only Barcelona are yet to figure out their own future.

The 2022 World Cup is the tournament Suarez hopes he will hang up his boots. For being invited to his national team for a friendly against Lionel Messi’s Argentina, it looks like the 2022 dream is not far away.
